For over 50 years Lane Cove Creative Photography has been bringing photographers together to share our passion.

What sets us apart from other groups:

We have a simple philosophy which we call the “Four Es”:

  • We Educate with regular presentations on key subjects and techniques, presented by our in house experts or guest speakers who have specialised knowledge of the topics.   Read more.

  • We provide regular Evaluation sessions where members’ photographs are discussed by the club as a whole with ideas and suggestions made in a non-competitive environment.  Read more.

  • We hold regular Excursions where members can practice and share in their passion for photography in a friendly social environment.    Read more below.

  • We Encourage our members to step out their comfort zone by holding Challenges and creating Portfolios on a topic of their choosing.  Read more and Read more here.

Lane Cove Creative Photography is affiliated with the Federation of Camera Clubs along with other NSW photographic clubs involving over a thousand photographers.

Program

Each year we put together a very exciting series of events, including presentations, guest speakers, evaluations, challenges, and excursions.  Our in house experts provide regular sessions where we help our members improve their skill-set, with an emphasis on the “Essential Skills” that every photographer needs to master.  Read more

Portfolio

We encourage members to design, develop and create a Portfolio, which is photographic body of work. Read more

Evaluation

We don’t do competitions!  Evaluation nights are designed to allow the photographer and members to discuss the ideas and techniques behind the creation of the photograph, in a noncompetitive environment. Constructive comments are provided to assist  members to learn and improve. We believe that in a competitive environment there is a reluctance to share ideas and techniques. Read more

Challenges

Designed to encourage you to think outside the square and get you out and find interesting compositions. A highlight of the calendar. Read more

Excursions

There is no better way to improve your photography skills than to get out there with your camera in the company of other enthusiasts. We have two main types of excursion. Most Wednesdays there are short excursions of a couple of hours followed by a cafe lunch. These are varied and are designed for easy access via public transport, as far as possible.

Longer excursions are mostly held at weekends and may involve travel a bit further from the confines of the city.  Recently we have attended the 18 footer skiff world championships on Sydney harbour and the HARS aircraft museum at Albion Park.

For 2025 there are plans for educational techniques excursions as well as some sporting events and nature and landscape excursions. Become a member today and be a part of our growing community and share your passion through our private facebook group.
