Cockatoo Island has a broad range of subject matter that can be explored individually or in groups. We will have some of our in house experts on hand to assist members who have questions regarding the techniques demonstrated at our meeting on 13th June. Outing - Photograph a table tennis competition

This Outing has been cancelled.

Following a successful outing to photograph table tennis at Thornleigh recently, the club has been invited to photograph a major table tennis event on Saturday 23rd March.

On this day, there will be a major table tennis tournament from morning 9.30am to 10.30pm at night. Obviously no one is asking members to come all day and evening.  Probably a visit of about 2 hours is enough to get good pictures. Alternatively you could do an hour, visit the Bunker cafe at Thornleigh Golf Center nearby and return for an hour or so.

If you go to the club’s Facebook page there are some good shots of what can be achieved from a recent Wednesday practice or social session and I believe a tournament will yield better results. There is a dedicated walkway that we can use without getting in the way of the players. All the table tennis club asks is that you send your top 5 to 10 shots to the organisers through Mei Lai.

The venue is Thornleigh Basketball Sports Stadium, 1A Dartford Road, Thornleigh.  For Google map, input Thornleigh Golf Center will take you to the car parks.  Parking is either under cover at the stadium or the golf center.  At the stadium, go to the right most basketball court and ask for Mei Lai at the control desk.

Inner City Photoshoot

This is an inner city photoshoot going down some very narrow and picturesque lanes slightly off the beaten track. Look out for quirky architecture, street photography, friendly locals and general Street photography. Probably the best lens today will be around 28mm or so. Meet at the Ampersand Cafe 78 Oxford St. around 2.00pm  for a 2.30pm start start. Catch a bus from the Central or Town Hall Station getting off just before Victoria Barracks. Street parking is difficult-as an alternate try the Domain but it is quite a walk
