Special presentation by Sandra Dann on Thursday 24th March

This week we were treated to a thought provoking and interesting presentation by Sydney based conceptual photographer Sandra Dann. Sandra creates most of her images based on a “What if…” approach and she uses elements from multiple images and sometimes external sources to build up her whimsical and creative imagery. Sandra challenged our members to think and play with image making to come up with more creative and expressive work. There was a healthy and expansive discussion about what is “legitimate” in combining elements into a composite and in particular whether using stock images and mixed media is ethically acceptable. It was good to see and hear a number of viewpoints and Sandra’s presentation prompted prlenty of input and differing viewpoints from the members. Sandra offers online clases and workshops on creative image making, as well as having some free videos available on her website. Visit www.sandradimagery.com for more information.
