Evaluation Night Thursday 23rd January

Our first evaluation night for 2025, at our last meeting, saw a large attendance, a large number of entrants and a large number of submissions. As usual, there was a wide range of subject matter shown in photographs that exhibited extremely good quality imaging. It was pleasing to see some really good first time work submitted by some of our newest members and potential members. The positive aspect of this is that we can look forward another great year of photography and continual growth in numbers and ability in our club. The photo heading this report is from Ann Parsons.

Once again there was good participation in our group discussion, which was moderated by Tony Whitten, who undertook the task for the first time he has done so. Tony started the discussion and kept the evening moving along in spite of the large number of submissions. The positive suggestions that arose will no doubt be of great  assistance to all members, whether or not they actually submitted photographs. We can all learn from good photographic evaluation.

If any member would like to follow Tony’s lead and take on the task of moderator at one of our upcoming evaluation nights, just let me know.

For our next meeting we will be having a presentation on the topic of Special Effects. This promises to be a most interesting subject which will present some ideas on how to make your photographs more creative and change them from documents into more artistic images.
